Bio

Alexandre Rodrigues da Silva, more commonly known as Alexandre Pato was born in Pato Branco, Brazil on September 2 1989. Like many young keen Brazilians, he took to football at an early age with a vision of one day playing in the top European leagues. South Americans across the world are known mostly for the more technical aspect of their game, with flair and creativity high up on the list. Alexandre Pato is certainly no exception, and playing ‘Futsal’ (a smaller pitch with much smaller goals) from a very early age helped him.

After impressing the scouts at Internacional, he won a place in their youth academy along with many other teenagers who all wanted to become professional football players and break through into the first team. Internacional is located in Porto Alegre and at the age of 17 Pato got the chance that he had been dreaming of ever since he joined the club six years ago. A chance to impress for the team. All game he looked highly impressive, and even got himself on the scoresheet against Palmeiras. And, after scoring in the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup semi finals, many teams across Europe were interested in the youngster.

The young striker decided to join Italian giants A.C Milan in the 2007 summer transfer window. However, the move could not be fully completed until the January transfer window of 2008 because of footballing non-EU registration regulations. Pato was under a lot of pressure to perform for A.C Milan, the Italian media had hyped him up to be a special youngster, capable of becoming one of Milan’s best ever strikers. In his first season at the San Siro, he lived up to the hype by scoring 9 goals in all competitions. This set a fantastic base for him to perform even better in the second season, and he has been on the scoresheet many times for Milan thus far. Pato continues to make excellent strides at Milan, and we’ll follow him as he makes his journey to becoming one of the best strikers in Europe.
